Sinopse:
This volume consists of a special issue of the Journal of Ibero-Romance Creoles (JIRC) dedicated to nine scholars who, over the past decades, have greatly contributed to the increasing success and promotion of both the research field of Spanish and Portuguese contact linguistics and the Associação de Crioulos de Base Lexical Portuguesa e Espanhola (ACBLPE): Alan Baxter, J. Clancy Clements, Mauro Fernández, Alain Kihm, Jürgen Lang, Philippe Maurer, Dulce Pereira, Jean-Louis Rougé, and Ian Smith.
The fifteen original, peer-reviewed papers contained in this volume are written by a generation – or rather generations – of linguists, among which the guest editors from the Universidade de Lisboa, whose work has been greatly inspired by these scholars and deal with several aspects of language contact in the Atlantic, Asia, and the Pacific, demonstrating the vitality and diversity of research on Spanish- and Portuguese-related contact languages.
